Principal SH Associates
Philips first job after completing his full-time studies was with
Grand Metropolitan Hotels. This started as a full apprenticeship culminating
initially as Food and Beverage Manager, latterly as General Manager.
Some of the other companies Philip has worked with include Holiday Inns
of Canada, Holiday Inns of America, Townsend Thoresen, Shire Inns, and
Select Hotels, along with specialised consultancy work with Touché
Ross, one of the top five management consultants in the world.
After
spending twenty five years in the Tourism Industry, Philip opened his
own Deluxe Hotel in Carlisle, Which? Hotel Guide Townhouse Hotel
of The Year 2001. English Tourism Council Best Bed and Breakfast
1999. His main skills are still channelled into Management Consultancy,
initiating Shaftsbury House Consultants as principal and senior tourism
consultant in 1994.
The
main focus of his work has been cantered on marketing, financial feasibilitys,
training and interior design consultation.

Alistair Stevenson MPA Marketing
Alistair initially served his apprenticeship with GBS ( now a division
of Deloite and Touché Consulting Group). He then went into the
industry with three organisations, The Highlands and Islands Development
Boards regional Tourist Tourism Structure, Forte Hotels and Holiday
Inn World-wide.

officer for Aviemore and the Spey Valley, Scotlands major all
year round holiday area.

and Marketing Manager, Cumberland Hotel, London. One of Fortes major
profit earners, an 800 bedroom four star hotel.

strategist, overseeing advertising and promotional activities, research

Chris
Burnett BSc BLD MLI
Chris Burnett started Chris Burnett Associates some 15 years ago and
since that time has acquired considerable experience in landscape restoration.
He has a degree in botany and geology from Sheffield University and
a degree in Landscape Design from Manchester University. He is a Chartered
Member of the Landscape Institute and the practice is a registered practice.
He is familiar with the problems facing many of the urban parks in the
north west and has worked closely with many Local Authorities to find
appropriate, and sometimes radical, solutions. He has extensive experience
in project management, frequently operating within tight budgetary and
time constraints. He is a project monitor for the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Burnett ASSOCIATES

John
Dyke BSc MA MLI
John Dyke is a landscape architect specialising in historic landscape
restoration and management. He has a Masters degree in Landscape
Design from the University of Sheffield and an MA in Conservation Studies
from the Institute of Advanced Architectural Studies in York. He has
worked on historic sites, conservation areas, registered parks and gardens
and scheduled ancient monuments in Australia, Europe and the UK. Recent
projects have included restoration management plans for historic parks,
landscape character assessment of the Surrey Hills AONB and Water and
Well-being, a research programme based at the Manchester Metropolitan
University. He is a Director of the Friends of the Ionian.

Gillian Binks BA
Gill was Co-Director of The Centre for Environmental Interpretation
from 1980-1997. She has many years experience of historic and cultural
landscape and site presentation and interpretation. She has undertaken
policy and strategic planning and feasibility studies in Britain and
Europe. She managed the advisory service on interpretation for the Countryside
Commission from 1987-96.. She is an assessor for the Heritage Lottery
Fund. She has considerable experience of researching and drafting advisory
publications and guidelines for practitioners.

Ann
Williams BA PGCE DipMA
Ann Williams is a qualified museum curator with over seventeen years
experience in the museums and tourism field. She was responsible for
developing and managing the Bersham Ironworks and Heritage Centre in
Wrexham and for several years was projects manager at the Centre for
Environmental Interpretation based at Manchester Polytechnic. She is
currently responsible for the development of the County Museums Service
in Conwy and has become experienced in funding issues being successful
with two Heritage Lottery applications.
